Connecting Hearts, Voices, and Stories
From December 1983 to November 2024, St. Ita’s Hospital Radio brought the Portrane community together with diverse shows and heartfelt stories, creating a unique listening experience that uplifted and entertained the resident and staff at St. Ita’s Hospital and the wider community in North Co. Dublin, Ireland.
This site is dedicated to keeping that stations memory alive using the original server , music library and a vast archive of radio shows built up over decades. Every recorded show ever broadcast was kept and is available to broadcast here. More about that at a future date.
For now i intend to concentrate on broadcasting the automated system that we used to play in the hours we had no presenters on air using original playlists.
We invite you to stay a while and hope that enjoy what you hear, if you’re of a certain vintage we have no doubt you will do both.

The purpose of the site is to keep something alive that otherwise would be gone. We are starting this site with a single page, this one but it will be build on as time permits. The Music will be as it always was but we have lots of ideas to build the website content to honour all people who staffed the station voluntarily for over 40 years, informing and entertaining the Staff and residents of St. Ita’s Hospital and the local community.

St. Ita’s Hospital Radio was a founding member of The Irish Hospital Radio Network a represenetaive body for Irish hospital Radio Stations. Tom Noctor was Chairperson of the organisation on two seperate occasions.
